Job Title: Avionics Design Engineer

Location: Oxford

Salary: DOE

I am looking for an experienced Avionic Design Engineer to provide designs for concept and integration of avionic mission equipment to meet the customers’ requirements. You will also be required to translate proposed concept into detailed design in compliance with Certification requirements, compatible with OEM Type Certificate systems and operational philosophy.

Job Description:

A successful Avionic Design Engineer will need to coordinate avionic activities in scope with business requirements within a multi-function environment. You will also have to understand and interpret customer requirements, facilitating a cost-effective design and production solution. You will be involved in the avionic design concept and integration from agreed customer requirement through to detail design. You must ensure that design meets Customer and Certification requirements within a formal validation and verification process. A successful candidate will need to produce detailed design in accordance with project milestones and able to discuss, and present, design concepts and solutions during customer and supplier meetings. You must produce concise and accurate design descriptions to facilitate change approvals and aircraft documentation. You will need to be able to define necessary ground and flight testing to demonstrate compliance with Customer and Certification requirements. You will support to required testing and documented analysis of results and generate or verify compliance substantiation reports as required. All candidates must be able to maintain technical competency and currency to ensure the effective use of latest technology to assist Customers in developing and fulfilling their mission requirements.

What we require:

A successful candidate will need to be educated to a degree level or equivalent. You must have an aviation background based in the Engineering discipline. We would also require previous engineering knowledge and aircraft avionics systems preferably with a helicopter bias. This includes knowledge of equipment qualification process and related standards, FAR/JAR/CS 27 and 29 Certification Requirements and EASA IR 21J DOA and MAA DAOS process and practice (preferably both but at least one). You will also need to be aware of Aircraft System and Software Safety Analysis processes, have experience in AutoCAD or similar 2D electrical drawing package, and be computer literate in MS Office desktop applications.
