A leading manufacturer and pioneer in its industry is recruiting a Commercial Design Engineer to join it’s expanding team.

Job Description, Commercial Design Engineer:

As an Assistant Commercial Design Engineer, you will assist the Commercial Design Engineer on HVAC designs for large-scale GSHP projects for both developments across a range of sectors including commercial, educational, and healthcare.

You will be supporting the Commercial Design Engineer in performing technical calculations, creating drawings, authoring technical specifications and schedules, liaising with manufacturers, clients, contractors, and our in-house team. You need to have experience using BIM software such as Revit, and Energy Modelling Software, such as Hevacomp.

What we require, Commercial Design Engineer:

• You will have a good knowledge of HVAC componentry and instrumentation and the ability to leverage this in your design
• A developed understanding of building physics
• Experience using relevant software packages such as Revit, HevaComp
• Relevant Engineering Degree qualification
• Working knowledge of GSHP Systems
• You will have a good knowledge of HVAC componentry and instrumentation
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• You will have a sound understanding of engineering principles, and be able to perform and review
• Ability to work with clients, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors to create working controls specifications
• Exceptional interpersonal skills

Role responsibilities, Commercial Design Engineer:

• To assist client consultation and assist clients in creating a clear design brief
• To analyse and ensure that client M&E Specifications and ERs are met
• To gather construction information got existing or planned properties using a variety of resources including architects' plans, client consultation and direct surveys.
• To develop AutoCAD construction stage P&ID
• To produce AutoCAD construction details including plans and layouts of existing heat and hot water infrastructure, site access, proposed equipment, and GSHP infrastructure locations.
• To assess existing HVAC installations and tailor design proposals accordingly
• To lead on technical review of HVAC designs
• Coordinate surveyors and third-party design consultants, reviewing work and overseeing design technical correctness
• Perform relevant heating/cooling calculations as required
• Prepare equipment schedules, specification for plant, ductwork, pipework, and associated datasheets
• Undertake and compile technical requisitions and specifications for GSHP heating/cooling systems and HVAC equipment such as fan coil units, air handling units
• Prepare controls and BMS work scopes
• Ensure CDM 2015 compliance of design projects
• Reporting to the Commercial Design Engineer.
• Responsible for nil staff initially.
