Location: Preston

Salary: £52,000 - £58,000 plus excellent benefits

A world class manufacturer of composites and polymers are now looking for a Head of Purchasing to join their team.

Head of Purchasing - Overview

Management and leadership of purchasing unit in the UK (Preston) and Strategic purchasing responsibilities for Bideford site

Head of Purchasing – Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the implementation of the supply and purchasing strategy of the respective functional area, in coordination with the Purchasing Director and the international purchasing leadership team.
  • "Execution of tenders, negotiation and conclusion of local and group-wide framework agreements
  • Cost responsibility for the purchasing volume of the respective division"
  • Cost responsibility for the purchasing spent of the respective division
  • Monitoring and ensuring quality requirements in purchasing (delivery specifications, certification and audits)
  • Regular preparation and reporting of purchasing figures and key performance indicators to the Director Purchasing
  • Manage, lead and develop assigned staff

Head of Purchasing – Person Requirements

The ideal candidate MUST come from the Manufacturing industry as a Head of Purchasing. You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Degree qualified in a related field of study such as business studies, commercial training or comparable qualification (CIPS)
  • Ideally hold a CIPS Qualification or membership
  • Significant professional experience in international purchasing
  • High motivation, resilience and flexibility
  • Significant experience in purchasing, procurement and supply within the manufacturing sector
  • Experienced handling of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of ERP system, especially SAP desirable
  • Responsibility for defined area of responsibility in purchasing (direct / indirect)
  • Signature regulation: to be defined
