Head Storesperson

Location: Oldham

Salary: £30k-£40k

Our client is looking for an experienced individual with an excellent level of commercial appreciation required to run the Stores on a day-to-day basis.

Main responsibilities will include the accurate stock management of nearly half a million pounds worth of stock and consumables, issuing goods to internal and external customers, and ensuring that all data related to the stores is accurate, and the IT system is maintained.

Occasional delivery and collection of products and materials using company transport may be required

Head Storesperson - Responsibilities would include:

• Manage a team of 2 stores operatives.

• Receiving goods (tools, components, equipment, and materials) from customers and suppliers.

• Liaise with the planning department and ensure suitable and sufficient resources are available.

• Kitting and issuing goods and materials to the Shop Floor, as specified by Job sheets, in a timely manner, thus ensuring manufacturing schedules are met.

• Completion of goods inwards documentation

• Checking quality, quantity and types of goods received, and acceptance of all deliveries into stock.

• Ensure all received stock is undamaged and reporting and recording non-conformance in a timely and appropriate manner.

• Ensuring any unused goods are returned, recorded, and placed correctly into the Stores when production is complete.

• Monitoring and maintaining stock levels to agreed minimum and maximum quantities

• Ensuring stock control levels are maintained by reordering goods in a timely and accurate manner.

• Ensure all products are suitably packaged and that delivery service used is adequate to meet customer requirements.

• Update and maintain accurate stock control records by using a variety of systems including Excel spreadsheets.

• Perform Stock checks / takes as required (periodic, spontaneous and annual)

• Application of FIFO & LIFO as suitable and appropriate

• Maintain a safe, tidy and organised working environment within the Stores areas, and all current Health and Safety legislation is observed, including basic “house-keeping”.

• Delivery and collection of product and materials as and when required.

• Performing any other duties that may be deemed necessary and reasonable to ensure the effective running of both the Department and business.

Head Storesperson – Person Requirements & Benefits:

• Clean Driving Licence.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Physically fit as lifting and handling goods will be a major part of the role

• Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions as and when required.

• Ability to lead by example, manage others, and delegate tasks to the storeman.

• Computer literate / IT skills (to be able to use company business systems {training will be provided} including Excel and Word).

• Good organisational skills.

• Methodical with an excellent level and appreciation of attention to detail.

• Good numeracy and literacy skills and ability to be able to read and understand job cards (training will be provided).

• Current FLT Certificate.

• Desire and capability to continually improve the systems, conditions and working environment.

• Good team worker

• Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of the business.

• Logical reasoning, with a “can do attitude”.
