Production Manager
Location: Newmarket, Suffolk
Salary: £45k-£50k
Production Manager – Job Role:
- Overseeing manufacturing and production processes
- Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements
- Estimate costs and prepare budgets
- Organise workflow to meet specifications and deadlines
- Monitor production to resolve issues
- Supervise and evaluate performance of all production employees
- Determine amount of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.)
- Approve maintenance work, purchasing of equipment etc.
- Ensure output meets quality standards
- Enforce health and safety precautions
- Report to upper management
- Creating and execute daily, weekly, monthly, and annual production schedules
- Procuring factory production equipment and taking responsibility for its maintenance
- Striving to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines
- Maintaining hygienic conditions for both employees and the factory itself
- Implementing all the company’s procedures and policies
- Communicating any problems or obstacles to senior management
- Monitoring productivity rates, standards, and quality control
- Training and coaching Factory Operators and Sorters
- Implementing health and safety, environment, and quality requirements
- Apply lean strategies
- Work to aggressive growth targets
- Implement ISO9001
Production Manager – Person Requirements:
- Proven experience as a manufacturing production manager
- Deep knowledge of production management
- Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
- Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts
- Experience in reporting on key production metrics
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP software
- Outstanding communication ability
- Excellent organisational and leaderships skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
- Basic understanding of patterns and grading
- Knowledge of retail maths and the ability to calculate wholesale costs, resource requirements planning (RRP) and margins
- Excellent understanding of lean manufacturing
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel to support work-in-progress and production schedules
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) systems
- Ability to operate all manufacturing or production line equipment
Desirable Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in production, manufacturing, materials science and engineering or a related field
- Technical and production-based certifications
- Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Level 3 or Level 5 Certificate in Operations Management.
