Production Manager

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire

Salary: Circa £33,000 - £35,000 plus excellent benefits

A small, family run engineering company we specialize in trailer manufacturing are now looking for a Production Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing company where you can help the company expand and use your experience to help them get to the next level.

The business designs and manufactures quality catering trailers and vehicle conversions for each individual client.

This role will also be suitable for an Engineering Manager, Workshop Manager or Quality Engineering Manager or a Production Supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career.

Production Manager - Job Role & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all jobs are achievable and meet the Business objectives
  • Estimate, negotiate and agree budgets and timescales with Customers, Directors and Office Manager
  • Review target hours and budgets set to ensure on time delivery of jobs
  • Ensure Health and Safety Regulations are met
  • Determine Quality control standards and maintain systems of work
  • Oversee production processes and innovate as necessary
  • Re-negotiate timescales or schedules as necessary
  • Organise the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Supervise the work of junior staff and plan their development
  • Review and maintain production skills matrix
  • Organise relevant training sessions according to skills matrix
  • Prepare and issue workshop job packs
  • Prepare, issue and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (how to guides) and method statements
  • Maintain a ‘Before’ ‘During’ and ‘After’ photograph log of jobs as they progress through the workshop
  • Ensure final completed job photographs are taken prior to handover, including catalogue images for social media use
  • Keep up to date with market trends and competitors
  • Develop manufacturing methods/ Jigs for current processes.
  • How to manuals· When planning, ensuring parts & materials have been ordered to allow for “Just in time” Manufacturing.

Production Manager – Person Requirements:

The ideal candidate must come from the engineering industry as a Production Manager. You will also have the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

  • Ideally hold an engineering qualification such as C&G, HNC, HND or BEng
  • Come from a Machine Shop, Metal Fabrication or Precision Machining background
  • Managed a small production & engineering team
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, Operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Able to lead, direct, empower, support, and encourage the development of teams.
