Production Planner
Location: Leicester
Salary: £25k-£30k
My client is a large manufacturing business that is looking for a Production Planner to join their team. The right candidate must have experience in a comparable industry.
Purchasing Manager – Job Role:
- Taking responsibility for generating, maintaining, and explaining what-if scenario planning to include optimal shift patterns for the factory and machinery requirements to reduce direct labour costs
- Monitoring & reporting compliance to production plans via weekly KPI's
- Driving actions through commercial to sell through obsolete stock
- Planning in the introduction of new products & changes to existing SKU's in the planning process to meet launch deadlines in a cost effective and productive manner
- Being accountable for producing and maintaining the 50-week, rough cut capacity plan to utilise the factories' capacity in the most cost-effective way
- Being responsible for planning stock builds around downtime and speculative volume to avoid shortages and capacity constraints
- Working with the Production and Factory Managers in carrying out effective and economic short term capacity checking, issuing new plans to availability / site scheduling to meet labour and other resource requirements
- Translating the forecasts into business capacity plans with a defined outlook period, smoothing any peaks or drops in capacity to reduce labour costs whilst maintaining service to ensure lowest cost for the business
- Managing opportunities for changing demand with customer teams effectively and swiftly to enable customer teams to realise their customer service agreements
- Working with the Senior Managers in managing the introduction of new products & changes to existing sku's in the planning process to meet launch deadlines in a cost effective and productive manner
- Upgrading systems and processes used so that planning becomes more automated and less time-consuming
- Determine & track KPI metrics to measure production & planning performance
- Collaborate with Supply Chain & Manufacturing to develop the MPS & adjust schedule based on
- capacity, supply constraints, & forecasting changes
- Facilitate S&OP process; coordinate with manufacturing, logistics, & sales on overall strategy as well as tactical fulfilment execution
Purchasing Manager – Person Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree desirable but not essential.
- 5+ years of experience in planning, configuration management, or equivalent Skilled in using Office 365. Dynamics Business Central knowledge would be advantageous.
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing, inventory, production, procurement, materials flow, & production control planning
- Experience & knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently & within a team environment
- Detailed oriented & capable of analyzing situations/data
