R & D Engineer – Overview

An Automotive manufacturing company are now looking for an R & D Engineer

to join their team.

R & D Engineer – Responsibility

  • Dismantling and reverse engineering of electrical steering product.
  • Identification of components and development and maintenance of Bills of Materials within our production system
  • Development and up keeping of technical documentation
  • Ability to evaluate and set test requirements
  • Identify requirements for tooling for the production of new part numbers, work with Engineers and machinists to produce tooling.
  • Maintains component sample inventory and related databases
  • Maintains original equipment sample library
  • Raw Material/Component inspection and approval for new products
  • Consolidates research component and finished goods
  • Consolidation of new part numbers.
  • Research automotive communications.
  • Research new types of steering system.
  • Training on new product introduced.
  • Provide technical support in the areas of production.
  • Support Quality problem solving
  • Raise Non-conformity alert
  • Support internal improvement meetings

R & D Engineer - job requirements:

The ideal candidate must come from the manufacturing industry as a R & D Engineer. You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum 3 years hands on experience as an automotive electrician.
  • Working with automotive and diagnostic equipment such as scanners and multi meters.
  • Good knowledge of the types of automotive communications is essential.
  • NVQ level 3 or City and Guilds in Automotive electrician / Vehicle communications.
  • Good level of computer skills are needed I.E: Excel, Word, Power Point & adobe photo shop. CAD cam would be an advantage along with a knowledge of Photo editing
