Job Title: Senior Avionics Design Engineer

Location: Oxford

Salary: DOE

A successful Senior Avionics Design Engineer will need to provide design leadership for concept and integration of avionic systems to meet the customers’ requirements and translate proposed concept into detailed design in compliance with Certification requirements, compatible with OEM Type Certificate systems and operational philosophy. You will also need to support the continued airworthiness of AHUK approved designs in line with DOA Obligations.

Job Description:

As a Senior Avionics Design Engineer, you will need to coordinate and manage all avionic activities in concert with business requirements within a multi-function environment. You will have to capture and understand Customer requirements, providing guidance internally and externally to facilitate a cost-effective design and production solution. You will need to define avionic design concept and integration from agreed customer requirement through to detail design. It will be your responsibility to ensure that design meets Customer and Certification requirements within a formal validation and verification process. hen approved to do so, undertake independent Compliance Verification in accordance with AHUK DOA Privileges. You need to produce and direct detailed design in accordance with project milestones. You will have to discuss and present your design concepts and solutions during customer and supplier meetings. A key part is to support Risk Management through identification, assessment, and mitigation within scope of responsibility. You will have to initiate design mitigation as appropriate to address project issues such as obsolescence, shortages, and production concessions. You need to produce concise and accurate design descriptions to facilitate change approvals and aircraft documentation. A Senior Aviation Design Engineer will also need to provide liaison support to production function. You will need to define ground and flight testing to demonstrate compliance with Customer and Certification requirements. You must provide support to required testing and documented analysis of results. You will need to generate or verify compliance substantiation reports as required. We also require someone to maintain technical competency and currency to ensure the effective use of latest technology to assist Customers in developing and fulfilling their mission requirements.

What we require

For the Senior Avionics Design Engineer role, we require a candidate with a good aviation background based in the Avionics discipline. We also require a detailed engineering knowledge and aircraft avionics systems preferably with a helicopter bias. You will also need a good working knowledge of equipment qualification process and related standards, FAR/CS 27 and 29 Certification Requirements and EASA/CAA Part-21J DOA and MAA DAOS process and practice. You will also need an understanding of Aircraft System and Software Safety Analysis processes. To be proficient in AutoCAD or other 2D CAD suite for electrical integration. Be experience using Design Lifecycle and Configuration Management Tools and computer literate in MS Office desktop applications.
