Senior Commodity Manager

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £50k-£55k

My client is a large manufacturer and is looking for a Senior Commodity Manager to join their team. The Senior Commodity Manager will assist in developing and leading all procurement activities that are designed and targeted to delivering significant contribution to growth goals. This contribution centres around the development and management of breakthrough commodity strategies which are designed to aid complex sourcing activities and managing supplier relationships.

Senior Commodity Manager - Job Role:

  • Develop, improve and implement all purchasing activities associated with the successful management of an extensive portfolio of suppliers with a spend in excess of £20M, leading all key associated negotiations
  • Working in collaboration with all key stakeholders develop, improve and introduce global purchasing commodity strategies to support a changing supply environments and business growth plans. The strategies are not only designed to create clear deliverables against all elements of spend but also provides global guidance on commodity key market inflation / deflations rates to aid future product costing activities
  • Lead and develop breakthrough business projects using advanced commodity management and sourcing tools to delivery commercial and operational excellence
  • Work with internal and external partners to identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities that meet and exceed business objectives
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support business, market and purchasing prioritises and enable and support rapid alignment and associated deployment
  • Ensure market research, benchmarking and supplier innovation are used to aid decision making and improved performance on all current and future products
  • Execute best in class Vendor Relationship Management and Customer (internal stakeholder) Management strategies that aid efficient and effective purchasing and supplier performance
  • Deliver against financial targets as per individual and business plan objectives, responsible for all associated performance and management reporting, including adaption, creation and stewardship of relevant KPI’s

Senior Commodity Manager – Person Requirements:

  • Preferably a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and or a
  • recognised professional qualification
  • 2 years commodity / purchasing management experience, with exposure at a global level
  • Demonstrated and proven experience in designing / implementing purchasing and supply chain strategies & the development of an established suppler base in a relevant position
  • Experience in shaping and leading transformational purchasing initiatives, including process reengineering
  • Experience of senior stakeholder management
  • A desire and passion to make a difference
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a complex global environment balancing a broad spectrum of stakeholder requirements
  • Ability to interact with senior stakeholders cross effectively and efficiently functionally to
  • understand their needs and deliver effective balanced solutions
  • Able to articulate the supply market and migrate findings into a strategy / executable plan
  • Highly competent and experienced in the negotiation of contracts and conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including a high level of presentation skills (verbal & written)
  • Leads by example and confident in using wider teams to find additional information
  • Self-motivated and task orientated
  • Able to work on own initiative and make decisions based on overall business requirements and best practice
  • Strong in project and time management for complex global purchasing projects whilst maintaining a calm, prioritised and structured approach to all activities
