Salary: £20k-25k
A large Electronics manufacturer is looking for a buyer to join their team based in Peterlee. The Buyer will be part of a team responsible for the procurement of goods, materials, and services in a highly competitive market to meet the organisations operational and financial requirements. You will contribute towards achieving and developing departmental targets driving a period of organic growth.
Buyer - Responsibilities would include:
- Sourcing and purchasing of goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Ensure continuous supply of required materials communicating any supply challenges which pose a threat or impact on business operations.
- Monitor market trends and react accordingly in line with business objectives.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews driving improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.
- Explore alternative sources of supply for goods and materials.
- Evaluate and propose consolidation of existing and new suppliers.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice queries.
- Contribute towards departmental targets such as vendor reduction, on time delivery and purchase price variance.
Buyer – Person Requirements:
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) would be advantageous.
- Proven purchasing experience, preferably within an electronics or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to add value, reduce costs, and make business improvements.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a vision for success, the ability to take responsibility and implement cross-functional changes.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Effective analytical skills to evaluate trends and deliver proactive solutions.
- Commercially and operationally astute who is financially aware.
- Proven track record of achieving targets in a competitive fast paced industry.
- A strong understanding of purchasing best practice within the supply chain.
- An ever-present awareness of Health and Safety while on site in accordance with Seaward Electronic Ltd policies and procedures.
- Participate in training programmes and act as a mentor as and when required.
- Ability to produce accurate work while meeting volume targets.
- Display adaptability and flexibility to learn new tasks as required by the needs of the business.
- Have an acceptable level of attendance and time keeping.
