Production Manager

Location: Leicestershire LE15

Salary: Circa £40k

The Production Manager will be responsible for managing safe and efficient production of a range of energy and protein supplements sold into the UK and export markets.

Production Manager - Job Role:

  • Efficient supervision and management of a computerized feed manufacturing facility that mixes and processes ingredients to customer specified formulations
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with customer services, management and customers in achieving customer satisfaction
  • Responsibility for effective implementation of the site Company Health and Safety Policy, inculcating a culture among the staff of safe working practices at all times
  • Thorough understanding of stock movements of raw materials and finished products in order to maintain optimum and strategic stock inventory for seamless production and competitive customer
  • Scheduling preventive maintenance to upscale mill efficiency
  • Schedule daily production and manage employee shifts and hours of operation in order to effectively and efficiently produce feed and manage costs
  • Purchase inputs and establish efficient communication with suppliers of feed ingredients and packaging materials
  • Ensure efficient raw stock cover for production to meet customer needs
  • Lead the mill team and support their growth and development
  • Ensuring mill hygiene, feed quality and environmental standards are met in accordance with FEMAS, company procedures, statutory regulations and customer requirements
  • Maintain equipment and facilities in accordance with the housekeeping standards
  • Provide leadership through communication, goal setting and continuous coaching of milling staff
  • Identify process improvements for greater production efficiencies maximum consistency
  • Develop an audit process to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Manage feed safety and maintenance of HACCP plan
  • Manage inventory control and maintenance programmes
  • Receive raw materials while ensuring correct paperwork
  • Coordinate product collections and despatches to customer satisfaction
  • Maintain finished feed samples and quality monitoring of ingredients on a regular basis

Production Manager – Person Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have livestock animal feed milling experience or at minimum production background
  • Preferably man management experience
  • Good management, organisation and communications skills
  • Ideally experienced in feed regulatory requirements
  • Self-motivation and team player
  • Logical and proactive approach with a good broad knowledge of engineering
